Jack Edward Larson
1928 – 2015

On December 6, 2015 relatives and friends gathered in the James Bridges Theater at UCLA to remember and honor Jack Edward Larson. Bob Larson recalled some humorous moments, especially in his phone contacts with his cousin. Kathleen Nolan spoke of her decades-long relationship with Jack whom she described as her lover and friend. Debra Winger spoke to Jack's loyalty, guidance, and generosity. All who spoke did so with love and genuine reverence.

Jack's many acting skills were highlighted with several clips from the Adventures of Superman, a scene from Law and Order: Special Victims Unit (in which Jack played Dewey, a character named after Jack's canine companion), and a scene from the motion picture, Bob's New Suit, a 2011 release directed by Jack's friend, Alan Howard. Also shown was an excerpt from a documentary about Montgomery Clift.

Additional tributes were presented by Jason Ritter who read words from Jack's poem, “The Relativity of Icarus.” And several songs for which Jack provided the lyrics were sung.

Gary Grossman and Phil Dokter attended the service but were unable to attend a dinner later in the evening where several of us gathered at The Smoke House restaurant to continue our remembrances. Those friends included Jim Beaver, Stephanie Shayne Parkin, Ray Duke, Armand Vaquer, Mike Clark, Jeff Breslauer, Mike Goldman, Brad and Marcia Shey, Lisa Copenhaver, and myself. A toast was offered. “To Jack. We knew him... loved him... and will miss him.”
