Featured actress of the late 1940s and '50s

Dani Asher Talley, featured actress of the late 1940s and '50s, died Aug. 3 in Palm Springs from a stroke. She was 79.

Born Dorothea Alyce Nolan, she broke into show business at the age of 15, assisting celebrated magician Harry Blackstone Sr. while he was on tour in her hometown of Denver. She continued working onstage as a dancer and contortionist before moving to Los Angeles to study mathematics at UCLA and begin her film career as a contract player with Republic Pictures and later Columbia.

She was featured in at least six films under the name Dani Sue Nolan, including Smoky Canyon, Flame of Youth, Breakthrough and the Three Stooges short Gents in a Jam. She left her mark on numerous TV shows such as I Love Lucy, Adventures of Superman, The Fugitive and The Brady Bunch.

In 1951, she married I Love Lucy director and co-creator William Asher, with whom she remained close friends long after their separation.

She retired to Palm Springs in 1988, where she devoted herself to volunteer work supporting various AIDS and social advocacy charities.

She is survived by her husband, James Talley, two children and four grandchildren.
