1) THANK YOU --
Thanks to the hundreds of you who sent cards and well-wishes in September
after my hospital visit. I was moved by your concern and understanding. It's
easy to see that George Reeves has a wonderful group of admirers. Some of
the orders for back issues, autographed photos, and videos were delayed, but
they have all now been filled. I don't want to bore you with the details for
my hospital visit, but briefly, on September 9 I experienced a sudden severe
headache and nausea. Naturally my nerves were on edge, and I knew I had high
labatomy pressure and sideways metabolism. But after examining my cranium,
the doctor (see accompany photo of my doctor with a previous patient)
informed me I also suffer from a case of cerebellum. My lobar pendulum,
however, is fine.

Dr. Olsen

Actually, I was taken to the hospital where, through a spinal tap, blood was found in my spinal fluid. I underwent a CT scan, angiogram, and MRI, but the source of the blood was not discovered. I have a follow-up visit scheduled with the neurosurgeon on October 6. For now, I'm feeling well.

2) "20/20" UPDATE
Last week I spoke with Joe Tobin who is producing the George Reeves/Superman
segment for ABC's 20/20. Due to the recent death of Tobin's father, the
segment has been pushed back a few weeks, but it is currently in production.
As I learn more, I'll let you know.

3) "TEAR GAS SQUAD" ON TURNER CLASSIC MOVIES
John Bogle sends word that Tear Gas Squad (1940) will air on TCM on
Sunday, October 10 (check local listings for time). If you haven't yet seen
this film, it's worth watching as it features not only George Reeves, but
Ben Welden and John Hamilton as well.

4) ANSWER TO "ENQUIRER TV MAGAZINE" QUESTION IN TAC, JR. #34
Just like Superman, Don Wurzelbacher arrived in the nick of time with an
answer to Delmo Walters' question about the article in Enquirer TV Magazine.
According to Don, the issue with George Reeves and Noel Neill on
the cover was published during the week of February 25 to March 3, 1979. Don
scanned the article and sent it to me, but it's over 200 KB, so I didn't
attach it to this newsletter. If you'd like a copy, however, let me know and
I'll e-mail it to you.

5) JOHN HAMILTON ON RADIO?
Jim Beaver recently found a web site that lists old radio programs for sale.
May some of you who are old-time radio enthusiasts know of this program and
can tell us if the John Hamilton mentioned is our John Hamilton. If so,
please let me know.

On the old-time radio site http://otrsite.com, I found a listing for a
broadcast that might be of interest. Don't know if it's our John, but it's
available for order, does anyone have this?

6) JOHN HAMILTON AUTOGRAPH?
In TAC, Jr. #34, Bruce Lombardi asked if anyone knows where he can find a
John Hamilton autograph. For Bruce or anyone else interested in autographed
photos, Chris Orlando suggests Truly Unique Collectibles. You can call them at
888-725-7614 to see if they have a John Hamilton or can get it. They have pretty
reasonable prices. I picked up a Helen Slater autographed photo of her as
Supergirl for $35. I saw a woman buy a Sarah Michele Geller (OK, so I'm a
Buffy fan, too) autographed photo for $385, and they have it for $50.

7) SUPERMAN IN THE SUNDAY COMICS
Greg Sherffius asks:

I know this isn't your specialty, however I thought you may be able to point
me in the right direction. A co-worker of mine bought a bulk of old
newspapers and found a copy of the New York Times comic section titled,
"Sunday Mirror" dated Sunday December 6, 1942. The entire feature is in
color. The first comic on the front page is SUPERMAN. It is in remarkably
good condition for 57 years old. We are trying to find out the value of
this. Have you got any suggestions where to start?

Can anyone help with this?

8) 20/20 TO AIR SEGMENT ON GEORGE REEVES
Latest word is that the George Reeves segment on ABC's "20/20" will air
Thursday night, October 14. Although we have seen several shows of this
nature in the past twenty years, my sources indicate there will be a new
voice heard on this segment. For the first time we'll hear from Mrs. William
Bliss. Whether or not she has anything new and substantial to say, however,
remains to be seen. My sources also indicate we'll hear from Merrill Sparks,
who saw George Reeves at a restaurant the evening before his death. I'll be
interested in your reaction to this segment, but because I have another
hospital visit scheduled for the next day, I'll not be able to respond
immediately.
