1) LUCY MEETS SUPERMAN -- DIRECTOR'S CUT
Don Holmes noticed something very important about I Love Lucy
in this
week's issue of TV Guide. All this week (December 6 -
10), from 9pm until
1am (Eastern and Pacific times) Nick-At-Nite is running what
Nick calls The
Director's Cut
"The way it originally aired -- in
unedited, fully restored
prints." According to Don, "Lucy Meets Superman"
will air Friday night,
December 10, at 11:30 PM Eastern Time. This is a one-time event,
so don't
miss it.
2) ANSWER TO MYSTERY PHOTO
Several people correctly identified all three actors in the mystery
photo
that appeared with TAC, Jr. #36, but Claude Brooks was
the first to identify
Ben Welden, Tom Fadden (Clark Kent's father in "Superman
On Earth") and
Humphert Bogart as Philip Marlowe in The Big Sleep, 1946.
Thanks again to
Tony Stapleton for sending the photo to The Adventures Continue.
3) GEORGE REEVES ENTERTAINS VIRGINIA GREY AT HIS HOME PHOTO
Attached to this issue of TAC, Jr. is another photo. This
one was taken in
George's house and shows him with actress Virginia Grey. Thanks
go to Randy
Garrett was sharing it with us.
4) NEW DABBS GREER MOVIE -- THE GREEN MILE
Don't forget that a new Dabbs Greer film will open on December
10. Actually
The Green Mile stars Tom Hanks, but Dabbs appears at both
the beginning
and the end, portraying Tom Hanks' character as an older man.
Dabbs will
turn 83 in April and as he wrote in a Christmas letter to me
"With a lot of
help I made the trip to North Carolina (my first ever visit to
the state)
for the exterior shots. I loved the Blue Ridge Mountains but
was remembering
the hills of southwest Missouri where I spent my growing years.
This was a
job I enjoyed doing very much, especially after thinking 'my
actin' days'
were a thing of the past." Of course, we all hope to see
Dabbs Greer actin' for
years to come.
5) MASTER OF MY OWN DOMAIN
Beginning today, you will find The Adventures Continue
web pages at a new
address. For several reasons, I've decided to change the domain
name from
jimnoltenterprises.com to jimnolt.com. If you have the pages
bookmarked,
please change it to http://www.jimnolt.com.
And if you're interested in the
personal reasons that motivated the change, read on. If not,
then stop here
and allow me to wish you a most joyous holiday season. May it
be filled with
good friends and much happiness. TAC, Jr. will be back
in January with more
interesting news about George Reeves and the Adventures of
Superman.
6) PERSONAL STUFF
At year's end it's only natural, I suppose, to look back over
the precious
twelve months in order to bask in our accomplishments
and
lament our
shortcomings. Part of the reason I originally chose the domain
name
jimnoltenterprises.com was because I had started a small business
marketing
personalized children's books and gift items. It was my intention
to use
part of the web site for that, and part for The Adventures
Continue. As
things turned out, however, I found it easier to market the books
and gift
items personally and reserve the web site solely for George Reeves.
This
past year brought some dramatic changed to my life, however.
In June, Gail
and I finally acknowledged something we both knew for many years.
That was
that our marriage was not good for either of us. After some long
discussions, we agreed to separate, and Gail filed for a divorce,
which will
be final in February. This, of course, is the reason my mailing
address
changed. No matter what our problems, however, Gail and I will
remain close.
She is a wonderful woman and a good friend. We spent Thanksgiving
Day
together with our daughter and her family, and we plan to be
with them again
for Christmas. But because I now live in a small apartment, I
can no longer
continue to market the children's books and gift items. There's
no place to
run a business here. So, I thought this a good time to drop the
"enterprises" from the domain name. I will continue,
however, to publish
The Adventures Continue and offer the autographed photos
of Phyllis, Noel,
and Jack, Superman On Television, and Speeding Bullet
to anyone who's
interested.
Then, as most of you already know, I was confronted with a
minor health
problem back in September. After a few scarey days, everything
turned out
all right. I'm in good health and plan to stay that way. After
my hospital
stay many of you shared personal stories with me, and I was amazed
by your
resilience and your unselfishness toward others.
Despite these few hurdles, I did manage to have a most wonderful
summer. I
learned
sort of
to ride horse, and I made several
new friends. I also
turned my back to a few inhibitions in order to accomplish a
couple new
goals.
As this year
this century
this millenium draws
to a close then, I want to
wish all of you a joyous holiday season and most prosperous New
Year. See
you in 2000!
