TAC, Jr. #41
March 12, 2000
The Adventures Continue and TAC web site is primarily
a source of
information. However, readers often ask my help in locating an
items related
to George Reeves (as in the case with Gary Grossman's book, Superman;
Serial to Cereal). Sometimes I learn of something I feel
will be of interest
to you, I do my best to frind it and bring it to your attention.
Sometimes I
benefit directly from the sale of an item, most often not.
1) CHANGE MADE TO "A TRIBUTE TO GEORGE REEVES" FROM
MARAGON PRODUCTIONS
2) SUPERMAN: SERIAL TO CEREAL STILL AVAILABLE
3) SUPERMAN MUSIC ON CD FROM VARESE SARABANDE
4) WHAT'S IN A NAME?
5) I COULD HAVE SWORN THERE WAS ONLY ONE EYE
6) WHO COULD PLAY THE ROLE?
1) CHANGE MADE TO "A TRIBUTE TO GEORGE REEVES" FROM
MARAGON PRODUCTIONS
Last month I posted an offer on my web site for an original fine
art museum
quality reproduction of "A Tribute to George Reeves"
from arist, Andrew
Aragon. I want to thank everyone who has already ordered and
to inform you
of a change. This painting has been upgraded to canvas. This
will increse
the cost, but not to anyone who has already ordered or to anyone
who orders
before April 1. For complete details on the chages and how to
order, go to
http://www.jimnolt.com/maragon1.htm.
And then click on the link to "Read a
letter from artist, Andrew Aragaon"
to learn how this painting came to
be.
2) SUPERMAN: SERIAL TO CEREAL STILL AVAILABLE
A couple months ago several readers where they could find Gary
Grossman's
book. I contacted Gary who told me he is offering some for sale.
Copies are
still available. For details, go to Gary's website at
http://www.supermanbook.com/.
If you order, please tell Gary that Jim sent
you.
3) SUPERMAN MUSIC ON CD FROM VARESE SARABANDE
According to several readers (Steve Orich,Richard Aramantrout,
Tony Aranjo,
Richard Stammer, and Colin Duff) some of the music from the "Adventures
of
Superman" is now available on CD from Varese Sarabande.
Steve Orich writes:
Here's the latest about the Varese CD's of Superman TV Music:
1 - Vol. 1 will be released 3/14
2 - At this point, it is undecided when or if the other 2 will
be released.
If I hear any other information, I'll let you know.
Anyone who orders it is welcome to write a review for TAC,
Jr. I'm sure
others would be interested in reading it. I tried to access the
Varese
Sarabande website
(http://www.varesesarabande.com/details.asp?pid=302-066-093-2)
this morning,
but their server was down. The CD can also be obtained from Amazon.com
and
the CD Now website. By the way, if you order from Amazon.com,
I'd appreciate
it if you'd enter their website through mine. (Unless, of course,
you have
your own link to Amazon). This will bring a few pennies my way
and help to
keep TAC and this web site here.
4) WHAT'S IN A NAME?
David Cassells recently shared this with me:
<<Just thought you would like to know, I named my daughter
Kara! [That was
quite a few years ago.] It wasn't because I am obsessed by Supermania,
but I
thought it was a great name. I wonder how many of your readers
have Superman
related names. Hope things are well with you.>>
I'd like to know too. Have any of you used names from the
Adventures of
Superman for your pets or children... or do you, yourself,
have a name
related to the series (or know of someone who does)?
And thinking about names from Superman, I was reminded
of a letter I
received years ago (and published in TAC #3) from Richard Hadley.
If the
name "Hadley" doesn't ring a bell, watch "The
Mind Machine." Richard wrote:
"I take a sort of personal interest in the television series
because my
mother dated director Tommy Carr when she was a young woman working
in
films, and she visited him years later in the 50s and watched
one of the
early "Superman" episodes being filmed. That episode
subsequently contained
a character named "Hadley," my mother's married name.
5) I COULD HAVE SWORN THERE WAS ONLY ONE EYE
In "The Lady In Black," the painting on the apartment
wall of old Mrs.
Jones, a friend of Jimmy's mother, sometimes had one eye, sometimes
two.
Jimmy's confusion was cleared up after Superman exposed Mr. &
Mrs. Frank as
art thieves.
In the summer of 1994 Richard Hadley cleared up another painting
mystery.
Richard explained that the paintings hanging on Clark Kent's
office wall in
several 1957 episodes are two neatly framed Utrillos (Maurice
Utrillo,
1883 - 1955).
Today, David Michaels questions yet another painting:
In Perry White's office there is a great painting hanging on
the wall behind
and off to the left in most of his shots. I've never seen the
painting straight on, but I've managed to piece it together pretty
well from
old eps I have on tape. Do you have any idea what the painting
is called,
who the artist is and if there is a full shot of it available
anywhere? If
not, is there anyone you've run across during the time you've
run this site
that I might contact about this? I'd love to have a copy of it,
even if
just a small one. Thanks for your time, I hope you can help.
6) WHO COULD PLAY THE ROLE?
Here's a good question from Dana Konikoff . . .
Thank you for printing my comments about the recent George
Reeves
"Biography." As "Biography" reported and
some of the other letters
repeated, there is talk of a new Hollywood movie about George.
I say Bravo
to the idea. It's long overdue. One of the letters suggested
that you
conduct a poll of who we think should star as George. One extreme
look a
like who comes to my mind is Drew Carey. I mean when I see Drew
with his
glasses on, I immediately think of George as Clark Kent. Has
anybody ever
said the same thing about Drew Carey to you. What do you think?
Please let
me know.
Well, there's Dana's question. What do you think, readers?
