1) A&E TO REPEAT "REEVES" BIOGRAPHY
Both Tom Chenevert and Joe Trapani have reported to me that A&E
will repeat
its George Reeves Biography
on Wednesday, April 4.
2) STAMP DAY FOR SUPERMAN -- FOR REAL
Most of you know about the 1995 Canadian Superman stamp and the
one that
followed in the United States in 1998, we learned from the web-site
Superman Through the Ages!
that pieces of original Superman artwork (including those
of Mike Creasy and Randy Garrett) were
recently lifted from the Internet and turned into stamps
by the neighboring countries of Kirgistan and Tadjikistan
(near Afghanistan). Also, check out Superman Through the Ages
wallpaper.
3) TAC #16 UPDATE
TAC #16 is definitely on its way. Last week I sent a draft of
the entire
issue to Randy Garrett so he could fill in some of the white
spaces with a
couple of his beautiful illustrations. As he's doing that I'll
write my
editorial. The next step is to take all the photographs and text
to the
printing company so we can determine a price. Once that's done,
I'll begin
taking orders. This is most likely the final print version of
The
Adventures Continue. From now on, all material will be posted
to the
Internet. When I first posted pages of The Adventures Continue
on the
Internet in 1995, only three readers were online. Today my address
book
contains nearly 1,000 names.
4) VARIETY AD UPDATE
With almost 1,000 regular readers of The Adventures Continue,
we'll surely
be able to meet our goal of $4,000 for the 50th Anniversary Variety
Ad this
summer. As of today, the total stands at $1513. For information
on the ad
and to see the list of contributors, go to the web
site and click on the link to the
ad in the left-hand column. Randy Garrett has designed a beautiful
logo that will
be placed at the top of the ad. I'll give you a preview of that
logo as we near the
publication date. Several readers have asked about a deadline.
I'd like to
publish the ad sometime between July and October. Of course,
the sooner we
reach our goal, the sooner the ad can be placed. Please consider
joining in
this effort and send a check to me at:

5) SUPERMAN MUSIC UPDATE
I get many questions regarding the release of future volumes
of Superman
music on CD. Perhaps this note, forwarded to me last week from
John Field
will answer those questions. Too bad it's not the answer we were
hoping to
hear.
<< Sad to say, the producer of the first Superman
CD from Varese Sarabande
has disappeared off the face of the earth! I've been working
with that CD's
co-producer on other projects and he said there isn't much we
can do as long
as the main producer holds the original masters. My label was
next in line
to produce those next two volumes, but unfortunately there isn't
much I can
do at the moment. Keep in touch and hopefully I'll have some
good news soon!
Best Regards,
Taylor White

And while we're on the subject of Superman music, Jerry
Krumm wrote to
tell me he recently watched Godzilla vs King Kong on television.
Although
a little "hokey" according to Jerry (half was in English,
the other half in
English dubbed over Japanese), the highlight of the film for
him was the
background music -- Superman music. Jerry added, "It
is almost as good as
seeing 40 acres in some unknown flick of the past!
I haven't seen this movie, so I don't know if he heard first
or second
season music, but Jerry wants to know if any of you know of other
works that
make use of the Superman background tracks?
6) SCOOPS Of NEWS
It's a good idea to check the left hand column at The
Adventures Continue
web site from time to time for the latest "Scoops of News."
Randy Garrett's
"Metropolis & Mayberry" article grows every few
weeks, and Don Holmes
recently posted a list of "bloopers" from the Adventures
of Superman. A link to
both can be found there. In the coming weeks new pages, including
an articles
by Stephen Brooks and Jan Rekas, will be posted on the web site,
so check back often.
7) "SMALLVILLE" COMING THIS FALL TO THE WB
If all goes as planned, Smallville, a series featuring
a teen-age Superman
will premiere on the WB Network. At Fandom,
Steve Younis reviews the
pilot episode. Of particular interest to me is the possibility
of a
character in the series named Whitney Ellsworth! Regarding that
name, in an
e-mail message to me Steve said,
The character's name is supposed to be "Whitney Ellsworth,"
but that's not
100% certain I've been told. As I hear it, they're still trying
to clear any
legal issues surrounding this "tribute" to the real
Whitney Ellsworth. I'm
trying to get clarification as we speak. I'll post any update
on this matter
to my website as soon as I get word.
Read Steve's review and get more information about Smallville
.
Update: March 27 -- For legal reasons, the character previously
listed as
"Whitney Ellsworth" will now be known as Whitney Fordman.
8) HAPPY BIRTHDAY DABBS GREER
Dabbs Greer ("Superman On Earth," "Five Minutes
to Doom," and "The Superman
Silver Mine") will celebrate his 84th birthday on April
2. A wonderful man
and fine actor, Dabbs continues to work... recently he appeared
on the
two-part Diagnosis: Murder episode, "Sins of the
Father." We wish Dabbs
continued good health and many more appearances on television.
(By the way,
if you learn when "Sins of the Father" will be repeated,
please let me know.
I missed part of it with it first aired.)
