To those interested in George Reeves Memorial projects:
This week we have been contacted by a few people that are interested
in helping the George Reeves Memorial. As director, I was able
to explain to them the issues we have faced and our present plans
for a memorial marker to be erected after the destruction of
the house. Though they desired to find ways to save the house,
I was able to speak with them about the REALITY of the situation
and the financial, local infrastructure and political issues
that are also at issue concerning the restoration of the home.
With that said they were determined to help in other ways. Most
of these folks are from organizations that celebrate the Gone
with the Wind franchise and some have been aware of our projects
before the latest announcement on January 5th. They will be designing
sketches of the memorial marker that will be used in grant applications
and on the internet to publicize the project. One person is a
professional grant writer and will be helping us apply for more
grants.
Other ways supporters from out of state have helped GRM are as
follows:
-Donation of items that are on display within the George Reeves
exhibit at the Heartland Museum in Clarion, Iowa.
-Selling of GRM merchandise and auction posting on Ebay and other
sites.
-Acting as a GRM representive at certain festivals and conventions-
passing informational pamphlets and contact information for those
interested in GRM
-Providing pictures and other resources used on websites, pamphlets,
historical documentation, etc.
We've asked anyone who does participate to concentrate on the
goals our organization has so we can complete them before we
move on to other projects.
